Led by the husband-and-wife team of Dr. Craig Goldin and Dr. Marcy Goldin, the Cosmetic Dentistry Institute holds an honor that sets it apart from other area dental offices. For the fourth year in a row, the entire Cosmetic Dentistry Institute’s dental staff, including founders Dr. Craig Goldin and Dr. Marcy Goldin, as well as associate Dr. Amy B. Carlino, were designated by Hour Detroit as top dentists.
“This honor is a testament to our caring for our patients and our love of dentistry,” says Dr. Craig Goldin, a fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and an accredited member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
It’s not surprising that every dentist in the office was designated a top dentist, because excellence is at the very heart of the mission of the Cosmetic Dentistry Institute. And, indeed, Hour Detroit isn’t the first to honor this exceptional practice.
“We receive a lot of compliments on how [well] everyone works together,” says Dr. Craig Goldin. “I hear it almost every day. Our entire staff — from the assistants and hygienists to the business staff to the dentists — works together in a way that our patients recognize as excellent.”
Besides reaping patient acknowledgment, the Cosmetic Dentistry Institute has received professional recognition, as well. The Cosmetic Dentistry Institute has had the honor of being named the Cosmetic Practice of the Year — a prestigious award that makes this local practice superior to hundreds of top cosmetic dental practices nationwide. Additionally, Dr. Craig Goldin has earned accredited member status in the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), showcasing his commitment to excellence in the dental profession. Dr. Goldin joins only 300 dentists worldwide who have achieved this prestigious honor. He has also received multiple gold medals in Smile Gallery competitions at the Scientific Sessions of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
While the many honors the practice has received are evidence enough of its excellence, the Cosmetic Dentistry Institute’s new office is yet another testament to the dentists’ commitment to quality. At nearly 6,000 square feet, this magnificent new office is more like a spa than a dental building. “Its architecture, design, and décor are amazing,” Dr. Marcy Goldin says, “and [it’s] a dream come true for us. Each part of this office was designed and created with the patient in mind.” If the refreshment bar and paraffin wax hand treatments don’t set patients at ease, then perhaps sinking into a Tempur-Pedic® cushioned dental chair or watching a movie on a personal DVD player will.
Drs. Craig and Marcy Goldin, both members of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, recognize the need to grow with the field in terms of technology, education, and in addressing patients’ needs.
“I enjoy teaching at the University of Michigan’s School of Dentistry as a clinical instructor,” Dr. Marcy Goldin says. “I want to encourage the next generation of dentists to have our same passion for continued learning and to realize that learning doesn’t stop at graduation.
“My husband and I both continue to take courses year after year. Our ongoing education leads to the best treatments available for patients today.”
“We are always growing as dentists,” Dr. Craig Goldin adds. “We are totally patient-oriented and patient-driven in everything we do, including our education.”
With that in mind, the Cosmetic Dentistry Institute’s dentists continue to train in many new dental technologies, all in the name of patient comfort. While the staff offers all phases of general dentistry, including cleanings, fillings, gum treatments, and root canals, superior cosmetic dentistry skills are what sets them apart. Featured technologies include digital X-ray equipment, Invisalign invisible braces, dental implants, and the CEREC-3D unit, which allows the dentists to custom-fit patients with porcelain crowns in just one hour. The Cosmetic Dentistry Institute is one of only a handful of offices in the state that have an i-CAT scanning device, a type of digital X-ray that allows a surgeon to see in three dimensions, making procedures like dental implant placement much safer.
“We really stay on top of everything that’s out there,” Dr. Carlino says. “We have so much of the new technology here, it makes life easier for everyone — including the patients and the doctor.” One final way the office addresses patient comfort is through the use of sedation dentistry; Drs. Craig and Marcy Goldin and Dr. Carlino are all trained in the technique.
“Sedation dentistry is wonderful for patients who are uncomfortable in the dental office or who would like to complete all their dental care in as little as one visit,” Dr. Craig Goldin says. “At our office,” Dr. Carlino adds, “we always keep our patients in mind when assessing new technology. Everything we do is for the comfort and best interests of our patients.”
