When to Find a Top Dentist Quickly

Finding a Top Dentist fast is a necessity in a dental emergency. If you are in too much pain to think straight, you may need a friend or family member to help with this process. But don’t put off going to the dentist thinking that your symptoms will just go away. With most serious dental problems, things only get worse the longer you wait. Here are situations that mean you need to get help quickly.

A Tooth Gets Knocked Out

If you are in a sports, work or car accident that results in loss of a tooth, don’t give up! Your tooth might still be salvageable if it is put back in your mouth within the first hour. Although it’s not possible to repair the nerves or blood supply to a tooth that’s been completely knocked loose, a Top Dentist may be able to splint the tooth in place using wire and resin. The surrounding gum and connective tissue will often reform around the tooth and hold it in place. It won’t be as good as new, but this approach is much easier than putting in a dental implant.

You Have Already Lost a Tooth

If you lose a tooth and it is too badly damaged or decayed to replace, you will want to search for Top Dentists to install an implant or bridge. That’s a non-emergency appointment, so you can take more time in selecting your dentist. However, don’t wait too long. Once a tooth is lost, the underlying jaw bone begins to be reabsorbed into your body. The more jaw bone you lose, the more likely you will need a bone graft prior to getting a dental implant. That can add tens of thousands of dollars to the price of the procedure. If you have been putting off finding a dentist to replace a lost tooth, get the ball rolling today!

Receding Gums

It is absolutely critical to see a dentist if you have any of the following warning signs that indicate gingivitis or early periodontal disease:

  • Unnaturally red gums (healthy gum tissue should be bright pink)
  • Swollen or tender gums
  • Bleeding during brushing or flossing
  • Persistent bad breath that doesn’t go away with mouthwash or regular tongue scraping
  • Pain during chewing
  • Tooth sensitivity or loose teeth

Waiting to treat periodontal disease can lead to bone loss, connective tissue loss, tooth loss and serious systemic infection. Periodontal disease is also linked higher risk of very serious health conditions including blood clots, strokes, heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, inflammatory disorders and chronic respiratory conditions.

Tooth or Gum Pain

Sudden tooth sensitivity to pressure or hot/cold liquids, shooting or aching pain in your teeth or pain in your gums can all be signs of dental problems. These issues can become rapidly worse. It’s a good idea to get in touch with a Top Dentist before the symptoms become unbearable. The sooner you seek treatment, the less invasive and uncomfortable the corrective procedure is likely to be. What might these symptoms indicate?

  • A cracked tooth
  • Infection near the root of the tooth or in the tooth pulp
  • Cavities
  • Bacterial infection of the gums or connective tissue
  • Impacted wisdom tooth

Oral Sores

If you have a lesion (red or white sore) inside your mouth that doesn’t go away within about two weeks, this may be an early sign of oral cancer. See a dentist right away if you have recurring bleeding or a lump in your mouth or throat since these may be signs of more advanced cancer.
